This International Women’s Day, we’re making it super easy for you to discover (and champion!) amazing female singers. To help, we’ve asked the world’s biggest stars like Jorja Smith, Annie Lennox, Anne Marie and Anitta to pick the women they’re most inspired by.
From today, their special IWD special playlists can be found exclusively on Deezer. Each one is unique as it will only feature tracks by female artists. So you’ll see Françsoie Hardy and Beyoncé are close to Lolo Zouaï’s heart, while Calypso Rose is inspired by Aretha Franklin and Koffee. We’ll also make sure that the playlists are front and center on our homepage from now until 8th March, so you won’t miss them!
We’re proud to support International Women’s Day again, reinforced by iconic branding that helps raise awareness about women’s equality and everyone playing their part in being #EachforEqual.
But that’s not all. Our editors have also curated special genre-specific playlists for you. They range from Alternative to Classical and each one is jam-packed with music from the best female artists. Podcast fans can also find a special selection of shows like ‘The Guilty Feminist’ and ‘Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations’, which all feature female artists and hosts.
“It’s an honor to work with the International Women’s Day charity for our third year. We need far greater equality in our industry, but it’s not something that will get solved overnight. We want to make sure that female artists get promoted and highlighted. We can’t wait to share the playlists with fans and hope that we can help them discover new music and shows to love,” said Marie Lallia who is a Senior Operations Manager for Deezer’s Artist Marketing.
“Great music can connect and empower women worldwide. Celebrating female artists not only inspires fans and future talent, but also forges expectation around women’s equal visibility. The music industry plays a significant part in helping drive a gender equal world so women artists can enjoy the recognition they rightly deserve as we head towards an #EachforEqual world,” added Glenda Slingsby, Partnerships Director for International Women’s Day.
