My Deezer Year 2023: Taylor Swift and The Weeknd were the most successful artists worldwide

Paris, November 28, 2023 – It’s that time of the year again when we all look forward to discovering the artists and songs that have been streamed the most and, more importantly, what music is on our personal top lists. It’s time for My Deezer Year 2023. 

And what a music year it has been! In 2023, we saw the release of long-awaited albums by Miley Cyrus, Bad Bunny, boygenius and Lana Del Rey. “Barbie – The Album” delivered a flurry of featured artists. Taylor Swift made us happy by releasing several new albums in 2023, and after nearly two decades, a brand new Rolling Stones album finally dropped. Olivia Rodrigo delivered her anticipated second album and we saw exciting EPs from Ice Spice and NewJeans make waves. And nearly five years after his last album, Travis Scott released his eagerly awaited fourth album. 

The list of musical highlights from the year seems never-ending. No wonder the average streaming time on Deezer is 88:39h per user per year!

My Deezer Year 2023

In 2023, The Weeknd was the most streamed artist on Deezer worldwide for the very first time – after spending most of the recent years in second place. He is followed closely by Taylor Swift, the most streamed female artist globally.

Pop continues to be the most streamed genre worldwide, with our Top 5 Most Streamed Artists worldwide unleashing a firework display of pop songs throughout the year. Miley Cyrus leads the Top 5 with her breakup song “Flowers”, Harry Styles’ “As It Was” made it to the second spot. No surprises there!

Another category where a female artist takes the lead is the most popular album of the year. Beyoncé’s “RENAISSANCE” is the most streamed album on Deezer in 2023. She’s joined by SZA on the top 5, alongside all-time favorites like Harry Styles and Bad Bunny.
