  • Deezer is the first music streaming platform to offer a remix feature, with full rights compliance and in agreement with the artists
  • Deezer continues to give artists and fans unique moments to connect
  • Launching initially in France, the feature could roll out internationally in the coming months

Paris, June 24, 2026 – Deezer, the global music experience platform, today announced the launch of Remix Lab, a feature integrated directly in the app, through the Deezer Club. Remix Lab is the first feature of its kind in the music streaming ecosystem, offering a new way for fans to connect with their favorite music in a creative way. It is developed with the prior agreement of the artists, and fully respecting rightsholder agreements.

With this feature, Deezer continues to innovate, offering a customizable and social product that aligns with user habits and taking another step forward by enriching the exclusive experiences offered within the Deezer Club in France. Through different contests, fans will be able to remix tracks from major artists such as Céline Dion (J’irai où tu iras), Tiakola (Meuda), Alonzo (18 carats), Ronisia (Solide), Mosimann (Soon ft Gaëtan Roussel), Zaho (Comme Caroline), Alain Souchon (J’ai 10 ans).

A creative feature for the fans

Pierre Trochu, Head of Product at Deezer, said: “This feature focuses on simplicity and accessibility and in just a few clicks, users can reimagine and rediscover a track they already know and love, by applying either simple effects such as increasing the speed or adding reverb, or more elaborate transformations such as changes to musical genre and style.”

A response to the habits of a new generation

Today, Gen Z fans in particular are no longer passive listeners, and 30% of tracks shared on TikTok are already modified by users, without this systematically generating revenue for artists and rights holders. Younger generations are already co-creating, and Deezer is now giving them an ethical framework in which to do so.

Artists at the center, compensated for every stream

Every remix is created with the explicit agreement from the artist. Streams generated from remixed versions are fully attributed to the original work. Every listen counts, and artists are compensated accordingly, in line with the rights owed to them. An approach fully consistent with Deezer’s commitment to fair and transparent remuneration.

How does it work for fans?

Participants discover the contest directly in the Deezer Club or on the artist’s page within the app, and are invited to add their creative touch to the artist’s track. The created remix can be streamed immediately, added to playlists and shared with their community, just like any other track, available exclusively on Deezer. Contest winners will be announced in early September. Their remix will be featured in a dedicated Deezer playlist bringing together all winning remixes. They will each also receive 2 tickets to a Deezer Purple Door event taking place in September, as well as a piece of merchandise from the artist whose song they remixed.

A long-term vision

Alexis Lanternier, CEO of Deezer, said: “This remix tool perfectly embodies our vision of offering a product that enriches the listening experience for fans, by allowing them to participate in the creative process and create a deeper connection with their favorite music, directly in the Deezer app. True to our DNA, these features are made possible with full participation of the artists, fully respecting rights, and maximizing earnings for each track.”

Launched first in France, this feature could be extended to other countries in the coming months.

Deezer – Live the music

AI is transforming the way content is created, making it harder than ever to tell what’s human-made and what’s machine-generated. Whether it’s articles, images, or videos, the lines are becoming increasingly blurred – and music is no exception.

Would you be able to tell if your favourite playlist contained AI-generated music?

97% of people can’t – which is why we’ve built AI Music Detector, a free online tool available in 27 languages, that allows users to scan their playlists from more than 20 popular streaming platforms and instantly discover how much of their music is AI-generated versus human-made.

How it works

Using Spot AI is simple:

  1. Visit the AI Music Detector page.
  2. Choose your streaming service and connect your account.
  3. Let Deezer scan your playlists.
  4. View and share your results.

No Deezer account is required.

👀 You might be surprised by what you find.

👉 Try the AI Music Detector and discover how much AI-generated music is hiding in your playlists.

  • 43% of users switching to Deezer already carry AI tracks in their playlists
  • 97% of listeners cannot distinguish AI-generated music from human-created music in a blind test
  • 80% of listeners believe AI-generated music should be clearly labeled on platforms
  • Deezer detects 100% AI-generated music with 99.8% accuracy, and has labeled over 13.4 million detected tracks in 2025

Paris, June 11, 2026 – Deezer, the global music experiences platform, is today launching a free online AI music detector, available in 27 languages, giving music streaming users across 20 of the most common platforms the opportunity to check if their playlists include AI-generated tracks. A recent 8 country survey from Deezer and Ipsos, revealed that 80 % of people agree that AI-music should be clearly labeled, and that 73% would like to see AI music tagged on streaming platforms. Deezer’s online detector is based on the company’s leading AI music detection technology, and only requires a few simple steps.

Why Are 43% of Switchers Finding AI Tracks in Their Playlists?

“By detecting and tagging AI generated music over the past year and a half, Deezer has been at the forefront of transparency in music streaming. No other company has followed our lead yet, so we decided to make it possible for everyone to check if their playlists include synthetic music, no matter which streaming platform they use,” said Alexis Lanternier, CEO, Deezer.

“A vast majority of people want to know if AI music is being recommended to them and our data show that nearly half of the users joining Deezer from another platform have AI tracks in their playlists. We’re expecting our AI music detector to be an eye-opening experience for listeners around the world.”

How To Check Your Playlists for AI-Generated Music?

Deezer was the first company in the world to detect and tag AI generated music on its platform, and has made its in-house developed tech commercially available for companies across the music ecosystem. For more information on Deezer’s approach to AI generated music, transparency and fairness, see editor’s notes below.

What Is the Impact of AI-Generated Music on Artists?

On Deezer, tracks identified and detected as AI-generated are automatically excluded from algorithmic recommendations and editorial playlists. This ensures that real artists continue to be promoted and that their revenues are not diluted.

AI-generated music remains available on the platform for those who wish to listen to it. It is clearly identified with an AI label, an initiative launched in June 2025 that makes Deezer the world’s first streaming platform to explicitly label this type of content.

In 2025, more than 13.4 million AI-generated tracks were detected and flagged on Deezer. Up to 85% of streams on these tracks were identified as fraudulent and excluded from royalty calculations, directly protecting the revenues of human artists.

Is Deezer’s Detection Technology Available to Industry Professionals?

Yes. Since January 2026, Deezer has been licensing its AI music detection technology to the broader music industry, including other streaming platforms, rights organizations, and distributors.

Deezer has also successfully completed tests with major industry players, including Sacem. Becoming a Deezer partner means protecting your catalogue, promoting fair royalty distribution, and reducing legal risks associated with AI-generated content.

Notes to editors:

Deezer, is receiving nearly 75,000 AI generated tracks every dayaccounting for more than 44% of the total daily delivery. Deezer’s AI detection tool has been in place since the beginning of 2025, enabling the company to track a steady increase of fully synthetic content on the platform. In June, 2025 Deezer became the first (and so far only) music streaming platform to explicitly tag AI-generated music. Over 13.4M AI-tracks have been detected and tagged on Deezer in 2025.

AI tracks are removed from recommendations – Songs detected as AI-generated are automatically removed from algorithmic recommendations and are not included in editorial playlists. This  is a first step in making sure that these tracks don’t dilute the royalty pool in any significant way. Potential future actions, including updating our supplier policy and removing/demonetizing content need to be based on careful consideration.

Opinions on AI-music

In November 2025, Deezer commissioned the world’s first survey focused on perceptions and attitudes towards AI-generated music. The survey was carried out by Ipsos with a total of 9000 people in 8 countries, US, Canada, Brazil, UK, France, Netherlands, Germany and Japan. It revealed a clear desire for tagging AI-generated music and making sure artists and songwriters are being fairly treated and paid if their music is used to train AI-models. Key results included:

  • 97% couldn’t tell the difference between fully AI-generated music and human-made music in a blind test with two AI songs and one real song
  • 80%  agree that 100% AI-generated music should be clearly labeled to listeners
  • 73% of music streaming users would like to know if a music streaming service is recommending 100% AI-generated music
  • 52% of respondents feel that 100% AI-generated songs should not be included in charts alongside human-made songs in the main charts

Deezer’s AI music detection tool sets an industry standard, with the ability to detect AI-generated music from the most prolific generative models, such as Suno and Udio, with the possibility to add detection capabilities for practically any other similar tool as long as there’s access to relevant data examples. Not only that, Deezer has made significant progress in creating a system with increased generalizability, to detect AI generated content without a specific dataset to train on.

Deezer is now licensing its AI-detection tech, offering the wider music industry an option to support transparency and reduce the incentive for AI-music fraud. Visit https://business.deezer.com/ai-detection/ for more info.

AI and fraud – Although fully AI-generated music currently accounts for only a small fraction of streams on Deezer — between 1-3% — it’s evident that the primary purpose of uploading these tracks to streaming platforms is fraudulent. Deezer has found that up to 85% of the streams generated by fully AI-generated tracks were in fact fraudulent in 2025. When detecting stream manipulation of any kind, Deezer excludes the streams from the royalty payments.

AI is a critical challenge for the music industry – According to a study conducted by CISAC and PMP Strategy, with participation from key industry players (including Deezer), nearly 25% of creators’ revenues are at risk by 2028, which could amount to as much as €4 billion by that time. This represents a colossal, even critical, challenge for the music creation sector as a whole. https://www.cisac.org/services/reports-and-research/cisacpmp-strategy-ai-study

Two new patents – In December 2024, Deezer applied for two patents for its AI Detection technology, focused on two different methods of detecting unique signatures that are used to distinguish synthetic content from authentic content.

Deezer – Live the music

Hundreds of football anthems have been uploaded to Deezer in anticipation of the football world cup this year – a majority are detected and tagged as AI thanks to Deezer’s technology and transparent approach to AI-generated music

Paris, June 8, 2026 – Deezer, the global music experiences platform, has seen an influx of tracks and albums with titles related to the 2026 World Cup, leading up to this summer’s biggest sporting event. More than 270 tracks named “World Cup 2026” have been uploaded, and over 70% of these are labeled as generated with the use of AI. Similarly, there are over 150 songs named “FIFA World Cup 2026”, and over 65% of these are labeled as AI.

“It’s never been easier to create music and upload it to streaming platforms, so it’s not surprising that a global sports event like the World Cup triggers people to try and take advantage of the moment”, Aurelien Herault, Chief Innovation Officer, Deezer. “However, since AI music is both tagged and removed from algorithmic recommendations when it’s detected on Deezer, the likelihood of any of these songs getting more than a few streams is very low. We also suspect that since Deezer has gone further than any other platform when it comes to transparency and reducing AI-related fraud and payment dilution, it’s now less attractive to upload AI slop on Deezer.”

Since the beginning of 2026, unofficial World Cup anthems have become an increasingly common phenomenon across the internet, with the viral French anthem “Imbattables” by AI music creator Crystalo, as one of the best known examples. The creator has accumulated millions of views across social media and music streaming platforms.

Deezer’s findings apply globally with very slight variations across certain countries. In Deezer’s biggest markets France and Brazil, there are also local tracks. There are, for example, over 70 songs listed in albums called “Coupe du Monde 2026”, of which 86% are detected as AI-generated. In Brazil there are over 180 songs published in albums called “Copa do Mundo 2026”, of which 71% are AI.

Deezer is the first and only streaming platform to automatically detect and transparently label AI-generated music. Its technology is detecting more than 75,000 fully AI-generated tracks everyday, representing roughly 44% of all daily uploads. These tracks are excluded from algorithmic and editorial recommendations.

Deezer has taken its approach in order to create maximum transparency for its users and to minimize negative impact for artists, including streaming fraud and payment dilution. While  AI-generated music represents only 1-3% of total streams, up to 85% are detected as streaming fraud, and are removed from royalty calculations and never paid for.

In a 2025 survey conducted by Deezer with Ipsos across 9,000 respondents, 80% said AI music should be clearly labeled.

Methods to represent literary texts as graphs or sequences of graphs mainly focus on representing character interactions, and often overlook another crucial aspect: the textual context in which characters interact. We introduce Dynamic Heterogeneous Character Networks (DHCNs), which organize long novels into temporally localized heterogeneous graphs that align characters with their textual contexts. We extract around 20,000 DHCNs from Project Gutenberg, and propose GraphLit, a self-supervised learning framework that learns rich literary representations through a masked graph autoencoder objective. Across a wide-range of 12 character-related tasks, GraphLit improves over text-only and graph-only baselines, particularly on tasks requiring contextual understanding. Finally, we demonstrate the applicability of DHCNs and GraphLit for literary analysis by studying the link between narrative non-linearity and dynamic social features.

Audio autoencoders learn useful, compressed audio representations, but their non-linear latent spaces prevent intuitive algebraic manipulation such as mixing or scaling. We introduce a simple training methodology to induce linearity in a high-compression Consistency Autoencoder (CAE) by using data augmentation, thereby inducing homogeneity (equivariance to scalar gain) and additivity (the decoder preserves addition) without altering the model’s architecture or loss function. When trained with our method, the CAE exhibits linear behavior in both the encoder and decoder while preserving reconstruction fidelity. We test the practical utility of our learned space on music source composition and separation via simple latent arithmetic. This work presents a straightforward technique for constructing structured latent spaces, enabling more intuitive and efficient audio processing.

Alexis Lanternier, CEO of Deezer, commented:In the first quarter of 2026, we continued to see strong momentum in our Direct subscriber base, both in France and the Rest of the World. Q1 2026 BUSINESS HIGHLIGHTS

In Q1 2026, Deezer continued to execute on its strategic roadmap, with progress in the repositioning of its partnerships segment, the development of new AI-driven revenue streams, and ongoing product innovation to enhance user experience.

Sonos renewal: Since 2023, Deezer has powered the Sonos Radio ecosystem, driving tens of millions of monthly listening hours across millions of households globally. With this renewal in 2026, Deezer continues to deliver premium streaming infrastructure and a fully licensed global catalog, while expanding the collaboration to include ad-supported monetization on Sonos Radio through the Deezer Ad Exchange.

Deezer for Business: Deezer launched a revamped version of its partnership offering, positioning Deezer for Business as a comprehensive, scalable solution for partners. The offering combines a premium music catalog, proven technology platform and dedicated expertise to deliver tailored music experiences.

AI detection tool: Deezer signed a licensing agreement for its proprietary AI detection solution with EJI. This agreement enables EJI to detect recordings generated without human participation and marks an initial step in monetizing Deezer’s technology capabilities.

Flow Tuner: Deezer launched Flow Tuner, a major evolution of its flagship recommendation feature Flow. The new functionality enhances user control over the recommendation algorithm, enabling more personalized discovery. In line with Deezer’s policy, AI-generated tracks are excluded from algorithmic recommendations, reinforcing differentiation in content curation (AI-generated tracks now represent roughly 44% of the daily uploads and 85% of these streams are detected as fraudulent and are demonetized by Deezer)

CONSOLIDATED REVENUE

Consolidated revenue amounted to €131.9 million in Q1 2026, compared to €134.0 million in Q1 2025, a slight decrease of (1.6)% at current currency (and (0.9)% at constant currency) and in line with management expectations. Revenue in France increased by +4.2%, driven by continued momentum in Direct subscribers (notably driven by strong performance of Deezer’s Family and promotional offers), nearly offsetting the decline in RoW ((10.0)% YoY and (8.3)% at constant currency) primarily reflecting the expected run-off of the Mercado Libre deal.

Direct revenue reached €91.8 million in Q1 2026 compared to €86.6 million in Q1 2025 (up 6.1%), reflecting the continued focus on selected key markets. This led to sustained growth of the subscriber base in France (+9.1%) and in the Rest of the World (+8.7%). Strong performance was recorded in key markets including Brazil, Germany and the United States, supported by brand positioning and selected marketing investments.

Partnerships revenue totalled €33.6 million in Q1 2026 compared to €39.2 million in Q1 2025, down (14.4)%. This decline reflects the expected run-off of the Mercado Libre deal while recently signed deals (Telenor, Molotov, Norlys, Fitness Park, Chippu, EDF) are still in the ramp up phase. Excluding this transition effect, revenue was broadly stable. ARPU increased by 11.8%, supported by an improved partner mix.

Other revenue amounted to 6.5 million in Q1 2026 compared to 8.3 million in Q1 2025. The decrease reflects a high comparison base, including the end of one content licensing deal in Q4 2025.

Deezer – Live the music

When following a sequence — such as reading a text or tracking a user’s activity — one can measure how the ‘dictionary’ of distinct elements (types) grows with the number of observations (tokens). When this growth follows a power law, it is referred to as Heaps’ law, a regularity often associated with Zipf’s law and frequently used to characterize human discovery processes. While random sampling from a Zipf-like distribution can reproduce Heaps’ law, this connection relies on the assumption of temporal independence — an assumption often violated in real-world systems although frequently found in the literature. Here, we investigate how temporal correlations in token sequences affect the type–token curve. In human behaviors like music listening and web browsing, domain-specific correlations in token ordering lead to systematic deviations from the Zipf–Heaps framework, effectively decoupling the type–token plot from the rank–frequency distribution. Using a minimal one-parameter model, we reproduce a wide variety of type–token trajectories, including the extremal cases that bound all possible behaviors compatible with a given frequency distribution. Our results demonstrate that type–token growth reflects not only the empirical distribution of type frequencies, but also the domain-specific, temporal structure of the sequence — a factor often overlooked in empirical applications of scaling laws to characterize human behavior.
