Deezer UK launches first Original Podcast – Deezer Balls Up

London, June 16th, 2016 Deezer, the leading on-demand audio service, will launch its first piece of original British podcast content this Friday – Deezer Balls Up. Hosted by Alex Horne, the series will take a tongue-in-cheek look at Euro 2016 in five weekly installments.

Alex, better known for his work on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and The Horne Section, will bring listeners the big news from on and off the pitch, answering important questions like ‘which player looks most like a ghost this week?’ and ‘who has the best team beard?’. Guests on the show will include comedians Carly Smallman and Michael Legge, and football writer Phillipe Auclair.

Football fans can now switch between listening to their favourite tracks on Deezer’s music recommendation tool – Flow – to live match commentary including Euro 2016, and now for the first time an exclusive podcast taking a unique look at the summer’s football action from France. Deezer added live premium sports to the service last year building on its existing music, talk and entertainment offerings, with over 40 million music tracks and 40,000 podcasts now available on the service.

“This marks our first foray into original talk content for the UK market, and following suit from our successful tongue-in-cheek TV advertising we are sticking with the comedy route with our Balls Up series” said Christian Harris, Deezer’s Managing Director UK and Ireland. “We are excited to see what football fans think, and will look to create more original content in the future based on different passion points.”

Football on Deezer can now be found on the homepage and in the apps section, and is available to free (ad supported) and Premium users.
