KEY FINANCIAL INDICATORS

Q1 2025 BUSINESS & CORPORATE HIGHLIGHTS
Deezer continues to create value for the music industry, focusing on initiatives dedicated to fans, artists and partners.
Women Chart for artists: Deezer launched in March 2025 the Women chart, a 100% women artist-focused chart. This chart will be updated monthly and will highlight the 50 most streamed songs by women artists in France, Germany, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Colombia, and globally.
Artist centric model: In January 2025, Deezer signed a major contract with SACEM and announced the adoption of the artist centric payment system (ACPS) for publishing rights on Deezer in France. It is the world’s first update to the remuneration model for publishing since streaming was introduced over a decade and a half ago.
Cutting edge AI detection tool for music streaming: In early 2025, Deezer deployed a cutting-edge AI music detection tool. As of April, roughly 20,000 fully AI generated tracks are delivered to the platform every day, equating to around 18% of the daily content delivery. Deezer has taken measures to remove these tracks from algorithmic recommendations in order to protect the rights of artists and creators, limiting the impact of AI generated content on the royalty pool. No other streaming service has taken similar steps towards transparency and action when it comes to AI Music.
Partnerships: In early 2025, Deezer also renewed its long-term partnerships with Orange and Bouygues.
New COO: Julien Delbourg has been appointed as new Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) in March 2025 with focus on expansion of strategic partnerships and international development. Prior to joining Deezer, he served as VP of Sales EMEA at Mirakl .
CONSOLIDATED REVENUE
Consolidated revenue amounted to €134.0 million in Q1 2025, compared to €132.5 million in Q1 2024, up 1.1% YoY (+2.5% at constant currency), despite a high comparison base in Q1 2024:
● Revenue in France increased by +4.5%, driven by Direct and the Other segment contribution (including the contribution of a new deal signed at the end of 2024);
● Revenue in RoW declined by (3.4)% mainly due to the negative impact of the conversions of MeLi+ promo cohorts to Premium offers partly offset by the performance of the white labelling solutions for hardware / media partners.
Direct revenue amounted to €86.6 million compared to €86.0 million in Q1 2024 (+0.6%), reflecting the strategic focus on selected key markets leading to the continued expansion of the subscriber base in France (+6.3% LFL) and the consolidation of the rest of the world (1.8 million subscribers, almost stable for 5 consecutive quarters LFL).
Partnerships revenue totalled €39.2 million in Q1 2025 compared to €43.3 million in Q1 2024. The decrease of (9.4)% ((5.7)% at constant currency) reflects the anticipated conversion of MeLi+ promo cohorts to Premium offers (with higher margins), partly offset by the continued ramp up of the RTL+ partnership combined with better ARPU (+2.6% LFL) due to better mix.
Other revenue, consisting mainly of advertising and ancillary revenue, increased by +155.0% YoY to €8.3 million in Q1 2025 (+152.2% at constant currency) driven by the performance of the white labelling solutions for hardware / media partners.
2025 GUIDANCE CONFIRMED
As previously announced, FY25 will be a year of consolidation. The Group confirms its objective to achieve positive adjusted EBITDA in 2025 while expecting FY 2025 revenues flat to slightly declining year over year after strong topline in FY24 and no anticipated increase in ARPU. Furthermore, Deezer confirms its ambition to generate positive free cash flow for the second consecutive year.
NEW STRATEGIC CYCLE: NEW FEATURES DRIVING VALUE TO THE ENTIRE MUSIC INDUSTRY
As the musical industry enters into Streaming 2.0, Deezer recently announced a new strategic cycle aiming to create new ways to experience music and deliver value for the entire ecosystem. This strategic direction will be implemented throughout 2025 and will be fuelled with breakthrough innovations to meet expectations for greater personalization and connections from the young generation. First innovative features are already live for music fans and new waves of innovations are being prepared aimed at embracing the whole ecosystem.
Launch of four brand-new features for fans. Deezer has announced four brand-new features on its platform, designed to reimagine music experiences. These new services dedicated for users will offer enhanced personalization of the algorithm and listening interface, more in-depth listening stats to encourage sharing moments on social media, and finally, a universal sharing link that lets users easily share their tracks with others, whatever the platform. By offering more control and customization, Deezer reaffirms its commitment to providing an experience that perfectly aligns with the expectations and listening habits of today’s music fans.
These first features mark the beginning of the new cycle of innovation, setting the foundation for profitable growth in the years to come.

The first week of every January, two things happen: we set ambitious New Year’s resolutions to become better versions of ourselves – hit the gym, eat healthier and more – we also say goodbye to MyDeezerYear.
While most of us have forgotten our resolutions by the second week, many of us still crave a better way to track our music habits. Yet we’re left waiting another 11 months for the next MyDeezerYear…
But what if we could have a monthly shareable stats experience, with personalised insights, every month in our Deezer app?

It’s your personal music story – a monthly recap of your listening habits, helping you track your musical journey and see how your taste evolves throughout the year.
For those feeling bold, you can share your personalised card with your friends – offering a fun new way to discover new artists and genres together.

To generate your monthly stats, you’ll need to have listened to at least 15 minutes of music during the month. Any track you stream for more than 30 seconds – whether online or offline (just make sure to reconnect to sync your offline listening history), will count toward your stats.
Large Language Models (LLMs) have shown promising results in a variety of literary tasks, often using complex memorized details of narration and fictional characters. In this work, we evaluate the ability of Llama-3 at attributing utterances of direct-speech to their speaker in novels. The LLM shows impressive results on a corpus of 28 novels, surpassing published results with ChatGPT and encoder-based baselines by a large margin. We then validate these results by assessing the impact of book memorization and annotation contamination. We found that these types of memorization do not explain the large performance gain, making Llama-3 the new state-of-the-art for quotation attribution in English literature.
Paris, April 16, 2025 – Deezer, the global music streaming platform, is receiving over 20,000 fully AI-generated tracks on a daily basis. It equals over 18% of all uploaded content, an increase from the previously reported 10% in January, 2025, when Deezer launched its cutting edge AI-music detection tool.
“AI generated content continues to flood streaming platforms like Deezer, and we see no sign of it slowing down,” said Aurelien Herault, Chief Innovation Officer, Deezer. “Generative AI has the potential to positively impact music creation and consumption, but we need to approach the development with responsibility and care in order to safeguard the rights and revenues of artists and songwriters, while maintaining transparency for the fans. Thanks to our cutting-edge tool we are already removing fully AI generated content from the algorithmic recommendations.”
Deezer’s AI music detection tool sets an industry standard, with the ability to detect 100 % AI-generated music from the most prolific generative models – such as Suno and Udio, with the possibility to add detection capabilities for practically any other similar tool as long as there’s access to relevant data examples. Not only that, Deezer has made significant progress in creating a system with increased generalizability, to detect AI generated content without a specific dataset to train on. The reported increase comes at a time of growing concerns about AI companies training their models with copyrighted material, and governments potentially diminishing copyright laws to facilitate AI development. Deezer is committed to protecting the rights of artists and creators, and remains the only streaming platform to sign the global statement on AI training.

Paris, April 16, 2025 – Deezer, the global music experiences platform, is today revealing new innovative features, matching the ever-evolving user behaviors of music fans. Deezer is on a mission to enable its users to express themselves and connect with others through music. Over the years, the streaming pioneer introduced essential features like Flow, SongCatcher, Music Quiz and My Deezer Year as well as exclusive fan events (Purple Door, Deezer Live Session). Now, it’s time to reveal what’s next.
Alexis Lanternier, CEO of Deezer, said: “At Deezer, we are constantly innovating to offer the most personalized and customizable music experience on the market. The new features we’re introducing today give users more control over their algorithm, greater flexibility to personalize their experience, and easy ways to share content with their friends, even beyond Deezer. We want to keep surprising fans with new and engaging ways to experience music.”
More control over the algorithm
Over the years, Deezer has evolved its Flow feature to let users influence their algorithmic recommendations. Starting April, Deezer is launching an algorithm customization feature that puts users fully in control of their music discovery. For the first time in music streaming, users get to tweak their recommendations algorithm without restriction.
Enhanced personalization of the interface
Deezer app is becoming even more customizable. Starting May, users will be able to organize the Favorites tab for quick access to their preferred content, creating a truly personalized space. They will also have the option to customize their playlist covers by adding photos, shapes, and stickers — remodeling the app to fit their personality.
New stats to discover and share your musical identity
Building on the success of the annual recap My Deezer Year, Deezer is launching My Deezer Month. Starting in early May users will receive fresh stats – including most listened-to songs, artists, genres – and a detailed breakdown of their activity, all presented in an unique and engaging way each month. It’s a great way for fans to better understand their musical identity and share it with friends or family.
Share your music beyond Deezer
Starting late April, Deezer is introducing a next-level approach to music sharing. With a universal sharing link, users can send their favorite tracks to friends and family who are using other streaming services (Spotify, Apple Music and Youtube Music). This launch builds on Shaker, another unique Deezer feature that allows users to create playlists with their community, even with friends who are not on Deezer.
By offering more control and customization, Deezer reaffirms its commitment to providing an experience that aligns with the expectations and listening habits of today’s music fans — continuing the major innovations launched in recent years, including Flow, Shaker, Music Quiz and My Deezer Year.

The streaming service Deezer heavily relies on the search to help users navigate through its extensive music catalog. Nonetheless, it is primarily designed to find specific items and does not lead directly to a smooth listening experience. We present Text2Playlist, a stand-alone
tool that addresses these limitations. Text2Playlist leverages generative AI, music information retrieval and recommendation systems to generate query-specific and personalized playlists, successfully deployed at scale.
In this paper, we present Text2Playlist, illustrated in the Figure below, a personalized playlist creation tool, explicitly dedicated for broad intent queries, distinct from the search feature. It takes advantage of the recent rise of Large-Language Models (LLMs) and gets inspiration from Retrieval-Augmentation Generation (RAG) framework. Text2Playlist has been deployed on Deezer mobile and web applications for a first test phase of 5% of premium users since July 2024 and 20% since October 2024. This paper is organized as follows. In Section 2, we further detail our motivations for such a system. In Section 3 we detail how we use together query extraction, various metadata sources, Deezer recommendation system and LLMs to build this solution. In Section 4, we explain how Text2Playlist is deployed on Deezer and present analysis based on the first data gathered. We conclude and discuss areas of improvement in Section 5.

This paper has been accepted for publication in the proceedings of the 47th European Conference on Information Retrieval (ECIR 2025) at the Industry Day.
STONE, the current method in self-supervised learning for tonality estimation in music signals, cannot distinguish relative keys, such as C major versus A minor. In this article, we extend the neural network architecture and learning objective of STONE to perform self-supervised learning of major and minor keys (S-KEY). Our main contribution is an auxiliary pretext task to STONE, formulated using transposition-invariant chroma features as a source of pseudo-labels. S-KEY matches the supervised state of the art in tonality estimation on FMAKv2 and GTZAN datasets while requiring no human annotation and having the same parameter budget as STONE. We build upon this result and expand the training set of S-KEY to a million songs, thus showing the potential of large-scale self-supervised learning in music information retrieval.
In the face of a new era of generative models, the detection of artificially generated content has become a matter of utmost importance. In particular, the ability to create credible minute-long synthetic music in a few seconds on user-friendly platforms poses a real threat of fraud on streaming services and unfair competition to human artists. This paper demonstrates the possibility (and surprising ease) of training classifiers on datasets comprising real audio and artificial reconstructions, achieving a convincing accuracy of 99.8%. To our knowledge, this marks the first publication of a AI-music detector, a tool that will help in the regulation of synthetic media. Nevertheless, informed by decades of literature on forgery detection in other fields, we stress that getting a good test score is not the end of the story. We expose and discuss several facets that could be problematic with such a deployed detector: robustness to audio manipulation, generalisation to unseen models. This second part acts as a position for future research steps in the field and a caveat to a flourishing market of artificial content checkers.
